Diethylene glycol dimethyl ether.

Diethylene glycol dimethyl ether. - Geneva : World Health Organization, 2002. - iv, 33 p. : ill. ; 29 cm.

Diethylene glycol dimethyl ether (in the following called diglyme) is a colorless liquid with a slight pleasant odor. Due to its dipolar aprotic properties, diglyme is used mainly as a solvent (semiconductor industry chemical synthesis lacquers), as an inert reaction medium in chemical synthesis, and as a separating agent in distillations.

This book evaluates the risks to human health and the environment of this chemical. Diglyme liquid or vapor is readily absorbed by any route of exposure metabolized and excreted mainly in the urine. The main targets of diglyme toxicity are reported to be the reproductive organs.
