A concise assessment of the risks to human health and the environment posed by exposure to phenylhydrazine, a compound used worldwide as a chemical intermediate in the pharmaceutical, agrochemical, and chemical industries. Phenylhydrazine is released predominantly to water, where it is readily degraded. Although laboratory studies indicate that the compound is toxic to aquatic organisms, the risk under field conditions is expected to be low.
